IC 405 est un amas ouvert de la constellation du Cocher. Ascension droite : 5ʰ 16ᵐ 15,4ˢ Déclinaison : 34° 16′ 0″ Taille : 30' × 20' Magnitude : 9 Objet étendu près d'un ensemble d'étoiles jeunes qui la sépare de IC 410.

IC 405(also known as theFlaming Star Nebula,SH 2-229, orCaldwell 31) is anemissionandreflection nebula[1]in the constellationAuriganorth of thecelestial equator, surrounding the bluish, irregular variable starAE Aurigae. It shines at magnitude +6.0. Its celestial coordinates are RA05h16.2mdec +34°28′.[2]It is located near the emission nebulaIC 410, the open clustersM38andM36, and the K-class starIota Aurigae.
